Specialty Diving Courses
The specialty diving course is aimed at those who wish to deepen their technical knowledge of diving in unusual environments or with equipment different from the classic setup.
Among the unusual environments are very deep seabeds, accessible through the Deep Diver certification that allows dives up to 40 meters, wreck diving courses, or courses enabling you to experience captivating night dives.
Regarding the use of specialized equipment, you can specialize in underwater photography, dry suit diving, using a diver propulsion vehicle (scooter), or a mechanical propulsion device. There are also courses for using special gas mixtures like Nitrox. The specialty courses also include training in search and recovery techniques for objects or persons at sea. These courses are highly educational and encourage divers to pursue a professional career or volunteer work in the field of scuba diving.
DEEP DIVER
Often, the most beautiful things to see lie beyond 18 meters depth, away from surface noise and untouched by human passage: the most intriguing wrecks, unusual fish and creatures, and the most colorful seabeds.
Through this course, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge and techniques to dive up to 40 meters. You’ll specialize in selecting and using appropriate equipment, mastering communication procedures with your dive partner, and learning to manage air consumption to avoid nitrogen narcosis or insufficient air for surfacing.
Number of Lessons: 5 theory + 5 practical
Duration of Dives: between 30 and 45 minutes
Maximum Depth: 40 meters
NITROX
This course is becoming increasingly popular among diving specialties because, thanks to the specific Nitrox gas mixture, it allows for longer dives with shorter decompression stops during ascent.
The Nitrox Specialty course familiarizes you with this particular gas mixture, enabling better dive planning to increase underwater time and reduce surface interval, all while strictly adhering to safety standards for your health and that of your dive partners.
Number of Lessons: minimum 2 days
Duration of Dives: optional
Maximum Depth: 30 meters
Very popular, this course is suitable for those who love adventure and exploration. With this specialty, you can explore the most captivating wrecks: the course provides detailed training on the dangers and issues that can arise during wreck dives and in confined spaces, studying specific equipment to use and the right techniques for diving and exploring wrecks.
Sardinia, due to its rich history of civilizations settled near the sea, offers a vast number of spots perfect for this specialty, with wrecks dating back to ancient times.
Time for course completion: minimum 2 days.
Duration of each dive: between 30 and 45 minutes.
Maximum Depth: 30 meters.
NIGHT DIVER
Even for experienced divers, night dives can be a completely new and thrilling experience. Everything looks different at night: communication with your dive partner, the environment around you, and even the control of your equipment, illuminated only by your dive light, will feel different.
Through this course, you will learn how to manage underwater lighting and communications, how to enter and exit the water in complete darkness, and how to explore dive sites at night. This includes understanding how marine life may behave and react differently at night.
Time for course completion: minimum 2 days.
Duration of each dive: between 30 and 45 minutes.
Maximum Depth: 30 meters.
UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER
One of the most popular and exciting courses is underwater photography.
Guided by professional instructors and photographers, you will learn to choose the underwater camera that suits you best. More importantly, you will learn to recognize ideal conditions for photography, select the correct exposure, and master the best techniques for underwater photography.
You will also learn principles for composing underwater images effectively and techniques to enhance your underwater shots through post-production.
Course completion time: minimum 2 days.
Duration of each dive: between 30 and 45 minutes.
Maximum Depth: 30 meters.
DIVER PROPULSION VEHICLE
The diving course to learn how to use diver propulsion vehicles (DPVs) offers fantastic opportunities for divers: the ability to explore vast underwater areas quickly. With these vehicles, you can explore entire wrecks, extensive coral reef zones, or swim long distances without tiring.
During the course, you will learn how to handle and manage your DPV, properly plan your dives by calculating efforts, distances, and air reserves. The course will teach you how to manage descent and ascent and how to address any potential issues that may arise.
Course completion time: minimum 2 days.
Duration of each dive: between 30 and 45 minutes.
Maximum Depth: 30 meters.
DRY SUIT
Do you want to extend your diving season? Then this course is perfect for you. The use of a dry suit protects you from colder temperatures. Moreover, some of the world’s most incredible diving spots are often found in cold waters, where pollution is minimal and visibility is perfect.
This course prepares you to dive year-round, allowing you to visit many places in any season. You will learn how to independently put on and take off your dry suit, manage your buoyancy, and understand the correct safety procedures when using specialized suits.
Course completion time: minimum 2 days.
Duration of each dive: between 30 and 45 minutes.
Maximum Depth: 30 meters.
UNDERWATER NAVIGATION
Managing underwater orientation and navigation isn’t always intuitive. Thanks to this course, you will learn how to pay attention to the right clues and find correct points of reference to orient yourself underwater. You will learn how to use a compass to navigate and follow the correct path even in unfamiliar waters and sites, and how to locate and mark an object or location based on its distance from the surface.
If you’re interested in specializing in marine mapping and charting, this is the right course for you.
Course completion time: minimum 2 days.
Duration of each dive: between 30 and 45 minutes.
Maximum Depth: 30 meters.
PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY
Achieving proper buoyancy underwater defines a diver’s skill. When you maintain the right buoyancy, you can observe your surroundings better, swim effortlessly, and conserve air by adjusting your gear minimally.
This course will teach you how to calculate the correct amount of weights and improve your buoyancy to be perfectly balanced underwater. You’ll learn techniques to reduce air consumption and energy expenditure, allowing you to swim perfectly in both vertical and horizontal positions.
Course completion time: minimum 2 days.
Duration of each dive: between 30 and 45 minutes.
Maximum Depth: 30 meters.
