Junior Courses

Children love discovering life under the sea, which is why they are our true superheroes, and we have a section of diving courses and underwater excursions entirely dedicated to children and teenagers under 18 years old.

The dives are recreational in nature: they start with the “Baptism of the Sea,” which is a simple dive in shallow waters for those who have never tried underwater exploration before. From there, difficulty levels gradually increase. Our most passionate students easily achieve the popular PADI Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water certifications, allowing dives up to 12 and 21 meters deep, respectively.

Our instructors specialize in guiding children through education and exploration of the sea, and Cala Gonone provides the perfect setting to learn diving: clear water, colorful fish, and plenty of fun are always guaranteed!

DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING

This magical underwater experience is also known as the “Baptism of the Sea.”

During the Discover Scuba Diving course, you will attend a brief theoretical lesson where the fundamental principles of underwater pressure and equalization techniques are explained. Immediately after, you will make your first underwater dive guided and accompanied by your instructor.

This experience is suitable for anyone curious to try diving and to experience a simple dive in total safety and supervision.

The spots chosen for this type of diving allow you to explore rock formations, Posidonia meadows, and to see some of the typical marine species found in the waters of Cala Gonone.

Number of Lessons: 1
Duration: between 60 and 90 minutes
Maximum Depth: 5 meters

SCUBA DIVER

This diving course will lead you to acquire an intermediate level of knowledge, between absolute beginners and the first level. The course to become a Scuba Diver includes 3 dives in shallow waters, along with 3 theory lessons. After obtaining the Scuba Diver certification, you can dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters under the supervision of a professional. Within a certain timeframe after completing the Scuba Diver course, you can achieve the Open Water Diver certification by accrediting the theory and practical lessons already completed.

This certification allows you to explore new spots that are often inaccessible to snorkelers: you can begin discovering marine species, vegetation, and coral formations that populate the marine area of Cala Gonone, Ogliastra, and the Gulf of Orosei.

Number of Lessons: 3 theory + 3 practical
Duration: between 30 and 45 minutes
Maximum Depth: 12 meters

OPEN WATER DIVER

The Open Water Diver certification is the first level that allows you to dive without the requirement of a professional scuba diver (although Bluforia recommends always diving in pairs).

The course includes 5 theory modules to learn the principles, risks, and effects of pressure on the human body underwater, as well as at least 6 dives. Through these dives, you will gain confidence in underwater breathing, buoyancy control, and learn how to manage potential underwater challenges. The Open Water Diver certification enables you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters (12 meters for children aged 10 to 14).

The spots chosen for this course allow you to explore some of the most stunning areas of Ogliastra, amidst colorful fish, corals, and rock formations shaped over centuries by marine currents.

Number of Lessons: 5 theory + 6 practical
Duration of Dives: between 30 and 45 minutes
Maximum Depth: 12 meters for children aged 10 to 14

ADVANCED OPEN WATER

The Advanced Open Water course leads to the attainment of a second-level diving certification through 5 dives, including 3 chosen from 10 possible specialties (such as wreck diving, night diving, etc.) with corresponding theory modules.

With this certification, you’ll be capable of diving up to 30 meters deep without professional supervision.

Bluforia selects spots for this course that include World War II wrecks, incredible rock formations, and underwater caves among the most stunning in Sardinia and the Mediterranean. You’ll have the opportunity to see scorpionfish, moray eels, lobsters, and coral formations that populate the marine area of Cala Gonone.

Number of Lessons: 5 theory + 5 practical
Duration of Dives: between 30 and 45 minutes
Maximum Depth: 21 meters for children aged 10 to 15
